The person of John Paul II, the story of his life and pontificate, and the enormous impact of his teaching on the Polish nation and the contemporary world, have been chosen as the essence of the mission of the Institute of Pope John Paul II- the vivid monument of the greatest of Poles.
Initially, a construction of a splendid monument made of bronze has been planned. The monument was to commemorate the Pope and to remind the work of the great spiritual leader of the Catholic Church during his almost 27-year-long pontificate. The creation of the Monument - the Institute - was made possible by the cooperation of the Mazovian Voivodeship and the Warsaw Archdiocese. The main goal for founding of the Institute was the will to popularize the Pope's teaching in social life and to form young people's personalities according to the moral example given by the Pope.
The Pope's legacy has been inscribed the work of our Institute. We wish to put the structures and the work to the best use and to make the treasure of spirit, thoughts, actions and works of the Pope accessible to the Polish nation and the church community. Next months and years of our work will be marked by hard work and a deep concern to document and read all, material and non-material, signs, left in his legacy by John Paul II.
